Sara E. Dries, of Arkport

ARKPORT-Sara E. Dries, 85, of 8616 Wilkins Road, Arkport, NY, died early Tuesday morning (April 28, 2015, at Noyes Memorial Hospital in Dansville, following a long illness.

 

Born in Talladega, Al., on May 12th, 1929, she was the daughter of Cornelius & Lillian (Walker) Williams.

 

Sara grew up in Talladega and was a graduate of Talladega High School. She has resided in the Arkport- Burns area since 1953. Along with her husband, she owned & operated the Tri County Country Store on the Arkport-Dansville Road for over 20 years, retiring in 1989.

 

She was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Parish and a communicant of St. Ann’s Church. Her true joy in life was simply taking care of her grandchildren.

 

She was married in 1953 to Gerald J. Dries who died September 28, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her son, Bruce Dries who died April 3, 2014; her granddaughter, Nichole Woodvine; 3 sisters, Mildred McKinney, Linnas Ellison and Louise McKinney.

 

Also surviving: are 2 sons, David (Sara) Dries of Auburn, Pa. and Edward (Fiamma) Dries of Italy; 1 Daughter: Susan (Lewis) Woodvine of Arkport, N Y; 1 Brother, Waymon Williams of Ft. Walton Beach, Fl; 16 grandchildren, Kierra Woodvine, Cassandra Woodvine, Michael Woodvine, Joseph Woodvine, David Gerald Dries, Debbie Dunkelberg; Beau Dingeldein, James Dingeldein, Jeb Dingeldein, Rhett Dingeldein, Diana Dries, Claudette Dries, Guilliane Dries, Brittany Patterson, Nick Dries and Tim Dries; 8 great-grandchildren, Allison, Brynn, Devyn, Ethan, Owen, Mason, Nicholas & Erica; several nieces & nephews.

 

The family of Sara E. Dries will receive friends on Friday from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at the Dagon Funeral Home where a Memorial Service will be held at the conclusion of calling hours at 6:00 PM with Deacon Robert McCormick officiating. Final interment will be in the Bath National Cemetery.

 

Sara’s family request that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name be made to the American Cancer Society, 13 Beech St., Johnson City, NY 13790. Memorial forms will be available at the Dagon Funeral Home.
