School Merger Update

May 18, 2015

ARKPORT, NY – Arkport School Superintendent Glenn Niles says that the Alfred-Almond, Arkport and Canaseraga school boards have scheduled a joint meeting next month to review the final results of the merger study.

That meeting will be on June 9th at 7pm at Alfred-Almond Central.

Niles says that if the school boards vote to accept the report’s recommendations, the New York State Education Department would schedule the first public vote on the merger (the so-called “straw” vote).

If all three district communities vote to move ahead, the state then would schedule a final merger referendum.
