Sen. O’Mara Helps Hornell Get A New Fire Truck

HORNELL NY – The Hornell City Board of Public Works met Thursday morning where Mayor Shawn Hogan was authorized to lease/purchase a Pierce platform ladder truck for the city fire department. Alderman John Buckley spoke with Senator Tom O’Mara (R, Big Flats) about securing a grant for the fire truck. The senator then agreed to give a grant in the amount of $500,000.00 for the lease/ purchase of the new fire truck.
 
Mayor Hogan said that the ladder/truck that the fire department uses now, was purchased 30 years ago. The finance committee approved the purchase in a November 11, 2015 meeting and the purchase proposal will now go to the Common Council for final approval.
 
In other news, Police Chief Ted Murray also stated that the City Police Department now has a new K-9 dog on patrol with his handler Officer Emo and Maple City has donated a patrol car to be designated as the K-9 vehicle.
