From The Tracy Mitrano Campaign For Congress:
“The people of New York deserve a representative who will fight for them,” says Massachusetts Democrat.
PENN YAN — U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts has endorsed fellow Democrat Tracy Mitrano in her bid to represent New York’s 23rd Congressional District.
“The people of New York deserve a representative who will fight for them— and that’s Tracy Mitrano,” said Senator Warren. “As a lawyer, cybersecurity policy expert and former educator, Tracy will hold Big Oil, insurance and pharmaceutical companies, and for-profit colleges accountable. Working families in New York have found a champion in her, and I look forward to working together in Congress.”
“I am profoundly honored to have the support of one of America’s most dedicated defenders of working and middle class families,” Tracy Mitrano said. “I will honor Senator Warren’s endorsement by continuing to accelerate my message of creating economic opportunity for the people of Western New York and the Southern Tier.”
Mitrano says Senator Warren was influential in her decision to run for Congress. “Around the time that I thought about entering the race I read Senator Warren’s book, A Fighting Chance, which offers a clear-eyed look at the day-to-day struggles of working people in this country,” said Mitrano. “The senator movingly depicts the economic and social challenges facing so many people in the 23rd Congressional District. She also recognizes the opportunity we have to reset the political compass and bring economic development and jobs to this district. Senator Warren has lived that reality and has realized that vision.”
Senator Warren is the latest official to declare support for Mitrano’s campaign. The list includes Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), the mayors and elected representatives of cities and towns across the 23rd district, and two former New York lieutenant governors.
Tracy Mitrano is a lifelong resident of Western New York and the state’s Southern Tier. The first member of her family to go to college, she is a graduate of the University of Rochester, Binghamton University and Cornell Law School. Mitrano is a registered Democrat and Yates County voter in Penn Yan. She is the proud mother of two adult sons.
