Senator Cathy Young Working On Anti-Safe Act Legislation

June 5, 2015

ALBANY, NY – State Senator Cathy Young (R, Olean) tells WLEA News that she is introducing legislation that would, if passed, repeal parts of the Safe Act.  “One is to get rid of the ammunition database that Governor Cuomo had pushed,” said Senator Young.  “It hasn’t been funded to date, but the technology wouldn’t even work, and it would be incredibly burdensome to lawful, law abiding gun owners.  It would actually cost taxpayers $100,000 in their taxes if it went forward.”

Senator Young noted that she is also working on legislation that would make it possible for people to inherit AR-15’s.   “I want people to be able to inherit AR-15’s,” said Senator Young.  “Under the Safe Act, they aren’t allowed to, and so I’m putting in legislation to allow inheritance with a background check.”
