St James Holds Open House For Womens Imaging and Breast Center

June 7, 2019

HORNELL, NY – Nearly eighty guests attended a public open house yesterday at the new St. James Hospital/UR Medicine Women’s Imaging and Breast Center, which is slated to open June 10.

See full statement from St. James below:
Located at the Medical Office Building at 7309 Seneca Rd. in Hornell, this new 5,000 ft2 St. James Hospital clinic will offer comprehensive women’s imaging services including screening and diagnostic digital mammography, tomosynthesis (3D) mammography, breast biopsies, benign cyst aspiration, ultrasound imaging (for breast, ob and gyn purposes), and DEXA bone density screening.

“We are excited to open this state-of-the-art women’s imaging center,” said Bryan O’Donovan, St. James president and CEO. “It has the newest technology and will be staffed by UR Medicine women’s imaging physicians, so that patients don’t have to travel outside of the community for advanced imaging services.”

Many types of medical conditions can be evaluated at the new clinic including breast cancer, breast infections and lumps, fibrocystic breast changes, bone density conditions (osteopenia and osteoporosis), gynecological conditions (pelvic pain and cysts), and routine obstetric/fetal development.

“Radiologists specializing in women’s imaging will be on site twice a week for advanced services such as screen-and-wait tests and biopsies,” said O’Donovan. “In addition, we will offer early and late appointments to accommodate our patients’ busy schedules. Patients due for screening mammography are welcome to walk in at their convenience. We also look forward to collaborating with Jones Memorial Hospital, as they begin serving patients in their new Women’s Health Office located adjacent to the Women’s Imaging and Breast Center.”

The UR Medicine Women’s Imaging and Breast Center is the last scheduled St. James clinic to move to the Seneca Rd. Medical Office Building. Several imaging services – including MRI, CT, nuclear medicine, non-breast and non-pelvic ultrasound – temporarily remain at the Hospital at 411 Canisteo St.

“Our goal is to provide patient-centered care in a convenient, comfortable setting,” said O’Donovan. “Once the new Hospital opens in early 2020, all St. James services – including the remaining imaging services, emergency room, and inpatient care – will be located at the Seneca Rd. campus.”

The new UR Medicine Women’s Imaging and Breast Center at 7309 Seneca Rd. (suite 113, entrance E) will be open Mon. and Wed. 7a-5p, Tue. and Thur. 8a-6p, and Fri. 8a-4p. Appointments can be made by calling (607) 324-8279. For more information visit www.StJames.URMC.edu.
