HORNELLSVILLE, NY – Over 200 people turned out for the official ground breaking ceremony Wednesday morning at the new St. James Mercy Hospital located at the old Kmart Plaza.
All speakers were in agreement that this day is a dream come true for our community and without the effort and perseverance of all involved, our community was on the verge of losing healthcare completely. The many people involved in all stages of planning and development were acknowledged and thanked.
Some of the speakers at the ceremony were St James CEO Jen Sullivan, Mayor Shawn Hogan, Dr. John Weyand from the Board of Directors, St James Chief Medical Officer Bilal Ahmed, and a representative from U of R Medical Center.
Also, many local and district officials were in attendance including Senator Tom O’Mara, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, future Mayor John Buckley, Sheriff Jim Allard, Mike Palmesano representing Assemblyman Joe Errigo, IDA Head Jim Griffin, and many others.
