May 19, 2015

BATH, NY – Former Hornell Police Officer Jennifer Speed’s jury trial will be on June 22nd.

Speed is accused of stealing about $15,000 from the Hornell Police Department’s evidence room. That the $15,000 was missing from the evidence room, was noticed by Hornell Police, in June of 2013.

Speed was charged in December of 2013.  Afterwards, her lawyer said that Speed “zealously maintains her innocence”.

Brockway was 50 when he was arrested three years ago, and charged with trying to kill Fred Tigner of Hornell.  Tigner, who was then 43 years old, was stabbed in the chest in his own apartment during a break-in.  Hornell Police reported that they found $15,000 in cash on Brockway at the time of the attempted murder arrest.  Brockway was charged with attempted murder in the 2nd degree in March 2012.

Speed’s attorney is James Riotto Jr of Rochester. The prosecutor will be county district attorney Brooks Baker. Judge Peter Bradstreet will be the judge.
