Tucker Decides Not to Run For Re-Election

January 9, 2017

CANISTEO, NY – Canisteo village mayor Bill Tucker told a startled crowd Monday night that he will not seek another term as mayor. Tucker for the most part was tight lipped about an explanation but did say he would elaborate further at a future meeting. “I thought it would only be fair to make the announcement for anyone planning on attending a caucus and/or wishes to seek the position. I would never try to conceal it and mess up someone’s plans,” Tucker said.

Tucker did say in a brief comment that he has been involved in community service to the village since 1991 and the mayor from 2002 until now. “I had a great time and appreciated all the support I have gotten over the years but I will be turning 65 next month and after 25 years I think it’s time to retire.”

Village Trustee’s Paul Cone and Jack Beers officially announced they will be on the ballot for another term. Elections will be held March 21, 2017 from noon to 9pm at the Canisteo Town Hall.
