Virginia S. Delaney, of Hornell

  HORNELL-Virginia S. Delaney, 91, passed away Thursday evening (Jan. 3, 2019) at her home in Hornell, after a short illness.

  Born in Columbus, Ohio on May 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Clark) Knopf. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her husband, John Delaney; her son, John Kevin Delaney and her brother, Richard Knopf.

  She is survived by her two daughters, Susan Berkheimer of Fairfax Station, Virginia and Marilyn Flynn of Hornell; her two grandchildren, Andrew (Laura) Berkheimer of San Francisco, Calif. and Laura (Jeffrey) Allen of Chantilly, Virginia; also her two great-grandchildren, Claire Berkheimer and Tommy Allen.

  Following graduation from Ohio State University, Virginia became employed as a dietician at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Mich., where she met her husband.

  After their marriage, she became a full time, loving mother until her youngest left for college.  She then became employed as a dietician for Allegany County Office for the Aging until her retirement in 1989.

  She spent her retirement making homemade quilts and needlework. She loved spending her time in the summer months maintaining her flowers and yard, which she did up to her death.

  She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

  To honor her wishes there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
