“What is happening in our communities is nothing short of a tragedy. Giglio (R,C,I-Gowanda), task force Chairman. “It cannot be overstated how important it is that we take a long, hard look at heroin addiction prevention and treatment and identify their shortcomings. Zeller says they’ve gotten about thousands out of the middle east, and that there’s about 16,000 more interpreters who still need to get into America. “We’ve brought over approximately 24,000 translators and their families, there is another 16,000 to go,” Zeller told WLEA News. “Each one of those 16,000, represents a family of, on average, five. We’re talking about some 80,000 people, who were made a promise, and are currently being left behind.”

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R, Corning) spoke of having a productive Agriculture Advisory meeting on Friday, with state Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball, State Senator Tom O’Mara and dozens of local stakeholders in the industry. Palmesano thought it was critical for family farms to have an outlet to voice their concerns and share new ideas. “I’m so appreciative that Commissioner Ball came to our district to listen to the challenges our farmers face and the new ideas they have to improve the industry,” said Palmesano. “I’m equally thankful to the members of my advisory committee for their continued participation and thoughtful input. It is incredibly important that we work to reduce the tax and regulatory burden on our family-owned farmers so future generations can take over. More than 90 percent of farms in New York State are family owned. Agriculture is not only the number one industry in our district, but the number one industry in our state. We must be diligent in supporting our farmers,” Palmesano said.
Palmesano says that anyone working in the agricultural industry who wants to join his Ag Advisory Committee can call his district office at (607) 776-9691 for more information.
