Heroin Dealing Charges In Hornell

HORNELL, NY – Over the weekend, Hornell Police charged 22 year old Shannon Brockway and 24 year old Dimetria Brockway, both of Adsit Street Hornell, with criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child.

Hornell Police Captain Mike Sexsmith says that Hornell Police found heroin packaged to be sold, at the couple’s Adsit Street residence.

The Brockways are husband and wife, and are now in Steuben County Jail, without bail.

Wellsville Standoff Is Over – Statement From Police Chief Tim O’Grady

    Statement From Wellsville Police Chief Tim O’Grady:


This morning (1/1/17) at approximately 5:19a.m. the Wellsville Police Department, with the assistance of the New York State Police, responded to a Franklin Street residence for a domestic dispute involving a firearm. Upon arrival police were advised that the male who was involved in the dispute had fled the residence. Shortly thereafter, information was obtained that the male had attained another firearm from an unknown source and was on his way back to the residence. Officers intercepted the male in the backyard of his Franklin Street home where he was found to be in possession of a loaded shotgun. The male ignored repeated commands from the officers to drop the gun and a stand-off ensued in the backyard for approximately 4 hours. The Allegany County Sheriff’s Office and New York State Police Negotiation teams, as well as two State Police K-9 units were called in to assist. Through the efforts of the entire law enforcement team, the male peacefully surrendered and was transported by Wellsville Ambulance to Jones Memorial Hospital for evaluation. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending. Also assisting at the scene were the Bolivar and Alfred State College-University Police Departments.

The suspect’s identity was released: Edward J. Shea III, age 36 from Wellsville, was charged with Harassment in the 2nd degree, Criminal Obstruction of Breathing, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Menacing in the 2nd degree, Resisting Arrest and Menacing a Police Officer (class D felony). Shea was arraigned by Justice Ames in the Town of Scio Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bail.

Standoff In Wellsville

WELLSVILLE, NY – The Regional News Network, which is based in Allegany County, reports that in the early morning hours of this morning, that law enforcement surrounded a home near 37 South Franklin Street in Wellsville. According to RNN, police are there trying to convince the suspect to drop a weapon. Wellsville Village Police, Alfred University Police and police from Bolivar are said to be at the scene.

Governor’s Statement About Istanbul

Governor Vetoes O’Mara Indigent Legal Bill

ALBANY, NY – Governor Andrew Cuomo vetoed State Senator Tom O’Mara’s legislation to have the state pick up the costs for those who cannot afford to pay for an attorney. O’Mara had argued that the state was putting undue burden on the county taxpayers, by having the counties pay for legal services for the indigent. In the governor’s veto, Cuomo stated that putting the cost on the state, would make state taxpayers pick up over 800 million dollars per year. Click here to read full story from TWC.
