Water Discoloration In Parts Of Hornell Today

August 31, 2022

From Hornell City Hall:

We have received reports of some residents experiencing discolored water. In some cases, the discoloration comes and goes. In other cases, it is more consistent with residents in some parts of the city experiencing this while others are not. Our water plant operators are working diligently to resolve the matter as quickly as possible.
THIS DOES NOT REQUIRE A BOIL WATER NOTICE AS THE WATER IS SAFE FOR USE.
We understand the concern and frustration of residents and want to assure you this matter is our top priority and we will continue working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.

Sen. Borrello Questions Guardianships

August 26, 2022

Senator George Borrello is weighing in on the family problems created by guardianship laws. “Guardianships can protect vulnerable seniors and incapacitated adults and children. But just as a guardianship can be used as a shield to protect the vulnerable, and it can also be used as a weapon by feuding family members to punish their rivals,” Borrello stated. “People deemed ‘incapacitated’ by a judge can have their homes sold and estates drained with complete disregard to whatever end-of-life decisions they made. We have cases where adult children are being barred from seeing their sick and dying parents by a guardian. Anyone who has sat vigil by the bedside or held the hand of a sick or dying loved one knows that is fundamentally wrong.”
