CANISTEO, NY – There was a budget hearing at the Canisteo Village Hall last night. Officials there say that there is going to be a 4.2 percent tax increase for village residents. The tax rate per one thousand dollars will be $8.02, last year it was $7.70. Officials in Canisteo said if you own a $70,000 home, your taxes would be $561.00, and increase of $22.67 from last year.
In other Canisteo news, there will be no increase in the water or sewer bills, and three officials were sworn into office, were village trustees Michael Delaney Jr, Grant Seaman and Al Woodworth, who will be codes officer. Also, Grant Seaman will be the deputy mayor.
