April 26, 2020

From The Steuben County Dept of Emergency Services”

The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification that two additional Steuben County residents tested positive for COVID-19. This brings the total to 221 confirmed cases.

The individuals are residents of:

· Town of Prattsburgh

· Town of Wheeler

One of the individuals is hospitalized, bringing the total number of current hospitalizations to 10.

The individuals are currently being isolated and monitored by the County Health Department. Public Health staff investigated and identified close contacts of the confirmed cases and exposure risks. All those known to have direct contact with the individuals have been notified.

Per CDC and New York State Department of Health guidance, information is being collected beginning 48 hours prior to symptom onset through the day of the investigation. The investigations indicate that the individuals reported visiting the following locations within that timeframe.

· 4/21, 4/22, 4/23/20 – The Homestead at Soldiers & Sailors in Penn Yan

· 4/25/20 mid-afternoon – CVS in Penn Yan

“We continue to experience a decline in the number of new cases over the past week,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “We are very grateful and happy to report again that there have not been any new deaths. Please keep up the great work in wearing face coverings, washing hands before and after visiting public locations, and limiting contact outside the home.”

All residents, including those who visited the above locations, should continue to monitor themselves for COVID-19 symptoms of fever, cough and shortness of breath and contact their healthcare provider for instructions if feeling ill.
