Arkport Village Denied Bridge New York Grant

January 18, 2017

ARKPORT, NY – The village of Arkport got the official word Tuesday that they had been denied a $210,000 grant from a Bridge NY program that was to be used to replace the Meadowbrook Road bridge. New York State inspected the bridge last fall and the Village received a red flag report. Mayor Charlie Flanders had anticipated this as time was running out and was prepared with a plan B to work with county services in replacing the bridge. Replacement is scheduled for this summer. The county is going to make small boxes that will then be pieced together to form the bridge foundation.

Also DPW head Bob Mauro was happy to announce that a leak in the village’s water line has been located after three hectic weeks of searching. “The break is located right underneath us, it’s the four inch line that feeds the fire dept. and you guys (Village Community room) feed of that line.” said Mauro. “Plan on being without water for a while tomorrow.”

In other news the March monthly board meeting has been changed from the 21st to the 14th because of village elections. Village Trustee seats up for grabs are Ezra Geist and Mike Brewer. The next board meeting will be February 21st, 2017.
