From The Elmira Fire Fighters IAFF Local 709: “Smoke could be seen for miles today as a historical Elmira house caught fire. Fire was already showing when firefighters arrived on scene. Firefighters entered the home and tried to reach the base of the fire, they were called out as conditions worsened and took a defensive stance fighting the fire from all sides. The fire was extinguished after a few hours. Thank you West Elmira and Elmira pd for your assistance. No injuries have been reported at this time and the cause is under investigation.”
