HORNELL, NY – From Republican Jim Bassage:
I would like to announce my endorsement of John Buckley for Mayor for the City of Hornell.
Over the past ten years, I have observed and served side by side with John on the Common Council, and as our Mayor. I am familiar with John and see the qualities that he possesses that I believe will continue to make him well suited to continue to be our Mayor. John served as the Deputy Mayor, which helped to prepare him to be Mayor and the past four years has provided him the experience, community mindfulness and awareness of how city government works to be successful as our Mayor. As mayor, John has interacted with residents from across the city and has worked to resolve their issues, he has continued to develop a good working knowledge of the city departments and has developed good working relationships with them as well. John continues to have a passion for public service and understands the responsibility that comes with stepping into the public service arena. I have heard him say many times that he wants to improve the quality of life for residents of Hornell and make Hornell a great place to live and raise a family. I see this played out in his efforts to make himself accessible and a willingness to meet and listen to people throughout the City of Hornell, to hear their concerns and issues.
John continues to be a tireless worker who recognizes the value of hard work. John has continued to develop and strength connections to state and federal representatives such as; State Assemblyman Marjorie Byrnes, Assemblyman Phil Palmesano, State Senator Tom O’Mara, US Senator’s Chuck Schumer and Kristen Gillibrand and Congressman Tom Reed.
Over the past 4 years John has guided the city through a very difficult and challenging time due to the COVID pandemic. But through it all Hornell has enjoyed growth and seen many new and exciting opportunities taken place with more on the horizon, thanks to the leadership and hard work of Mayor John Buckley. As we look to the future of Hornell it is critical that our mayor has the experience, working knowledge of the city, a strong work ethic, and political connections to continue Hornell on this path of growth. I believe John Buckley is the best choice and I am proud to endorse him for Mayor for the City of Hornell.
