A longtime local law enforcement officer, just notified our news dept, that he got a telephone call today from a familiar local phone number. It turned out to be a scam artist, using someone else’s phone number, and the scam artist made threatening comments, claiming to be with the Department of Social Security.
The moral of the story is – be cautious when you see caller display, just because the number looks like an official phone number, or a local number, doesn’t mean it is.
