Canisteo-Greenwood’s Fall School Covid Rules

August 24, 2021

CANISTEO, NY – School Superintendent Tom Crook last night, announced that per NYS CDA guidelines both masks and vaccines for students are strongly encouraged but not required. That policy could change at any time under new Governot Hochul. Fall Sports will go on as planned.

At this point athletes will not be required to wear masks unless they choose to do so. Jasper-Trouosburg school district will be using Greenwood school for the foreseeable future as Jt school has been severely damaged by flooding. Greenwood school is in the process of being cleaned out and ready for use in time for the new school year.

Crook and the Board are very pleased with all the community support to help accommodate JT. Sherrif Allard and Canisteo Police Chief Kyle Amidon were guest presenters talking about the future plans for Greenwood school after JT is done using it.

The school, with the approval of school board and Greenwood residents, will be converted to a public safety training facility. It will be a non profit organization and used to train local EMTs, law enforcement officers and fire fighters.
