HORNELL, NY – Hornell Mayor Shawn Hogan had some great news for the Common Council and all in attendance Monday night. The Canisteo Street Bridge has been included in the DOT budget and will soon be replaced at a 0% tax impact to local taxpayers. The $2 million project will not start until around 2018-19 and will be fully funded by aid from the state.
Also Hornell received their annual audit from Drescher and Malecki out of Buffalo and it was all good news for the city’s finances. Hornell currently has a surplus of $445,000 in their general fund with the total coming in around $2.85 million. Deputy Mayor John Buckley asked the representative to give Hornell a grade on their audit, and with a fast reply he said last year was around an A-, this year it is a solid A! Mayor Hogan added that he can remember some years when the city had zero surplus in the general fund.
“I am overjoyed that the Canisteo St bridge is finally going to be replaced. This has been a priority of mine for sometime now. I would like to thank Mayor Hogan for his continued work with State officials to make this a reality,” said 9th Ward Alderman John Buckley.
