Columbian School Building In Hornell, Is Closed Today

October 2, 2020

HORNELL, NY – The Hornell School District posted this, on their FB page, yesterday:

This afternoon we learned of a positive case of COVID-19 within an agency that leases space at the Columbian School.

The Hornell City School District does not directly oversee school programs in Columbian School at this time. Currently, the Columbian School houses a few BOCES classrooms, our Family Resource Center, an after school program and the Pathways Preschool program.

All programs are self-contained and operate separately with little to no mixing between programs. The individual was last at this building on Monday, September 28.

Out of an abundance of caution, the district has decided to close the Columbian School to all tenants and programs for tomorrow, October 2, to allow the district to conduct a deep cleaning of the space over the weekend.

Unless directed otherwise by the county Department of Health, the district plans to reopen the building on Monday, October 5 to its tenants. The Pathways program, however, will continue to work remotely for two weeks.

Please help to prevent the spread of COVID-19 by wearing your mask, washing your hands, avoiding large groups and staying home when ill.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact the District Office at 324-1302.
