From Leslie Danks Burke:
The New York State Public Employees Federation (PEF) today endorsed Leslie Danks Burke in her bid for State Senate in the 58th district. PEF is a union representing 52,000 professional, scientific, and technical state employees, including nurses, accountants, engineers, and more. This announcement comes on the heels of the New York State AFL-CIO, CWA District 1, and a slew of other labor unions endorsing Danks Burke for State Senate in the 58th district.
“Our communities in the Southern Tier and Finger Lakes have been without a real seat at the table in Albany since my opponent took office, and our working families are carrying the burden of that neglect. It’s time for us to finally have a voice,” Danks Burke said. “For years, I have proudly stood shoulder-to-shoulder with our public employees, fighting for better working conditions, a prevailing wage requirement, and healthcare access for all. At a moment when our public employees are working harder than ever to keep our families safe and our economy running, it’s critical that they have a Senator who will fight for their interests.”
“It is my honor to support Leslie Danks Burke in her run for New York State Senate,” said Jim Carr, NYSPEF Retiree President. “Leslie is a tireless advocate for working families and union members in the 58th Senate district. When elected she will represent our region as a full-time Senator who will actually have a seat at the table to get us what we need. We need someone in Albany who fights for our fair share. Leslie is that person! I have been a union leader and community activist and I know when a politician is the real deal! Leslie is the real deal.”
“If you work for a living, a vote for Leslie is a vote for yourself,” said Andrew Puleo, NYSPEF Region 2 Coordinator. “If you work to feed your family, a vote for Leslie is a vote for your own family. Voting for Leslie is a great way to get involved in your own life!”
