December 1, 2021 – Five Steuben County Residents Who Were Covid-Positive, Have Died, 223 New Cases

BATH – The Steuben County Public Health Department received notification of the deaths of five individuals who had previously tested positive for COVID. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths in Steuben County to 248.
The individuals who passed were:
• Male resident from the Village of Bath who died at the age of 73
• Female resident from the Town of Hornellsville who died at the age of 64
• Female resident from the Town of Howard who died at the age of 97
• Male resident from the Town of Hornby who died at the age of 74
• Male resident from the Village of Wayland who died at the age of 79
“There are no words to describe our acute sorrow for all the families and friends of those who have passed,” said Public Health Director, Darlene Smith. “We are all worn out by the toll that COVID has wreaked, but we must continue to persevere in our efforts to slow the spread and keep our loved ones safe, especially during this season of gathering indoors. Please remember that vaccination is all of our best protection against severe COVID. You can find vaccination sites at www.steubencony.org/covid or www.vaccines.gov.” Multiple of today’s positives are associated with: Alstom (4), Corning Inc. Sullivan Park (3), Simmons Rockwell in Hornell (3), travel (9), and the following school districts: Addison (3), Corning-Painted Post (9), Campbell-Savona (3), Canisteo-Greenwood (5), and Wayland-Cohocton (4).
