DEMS And GOP Members Of Congress, Voted To Make Changes On Lithium Ion Battery Regulations

FROM SENATOR CHUCK SCHUMER: “Poorly-made lithium-ion batteries have caused more than 1000 fires since 2019 in NYC alone.” 

FROM CONGRESSMAN NICK LANGWORTHY: “The Setting Consumer Standards for Lithium-Ion Batteries Act just passed the House by a vote of 365 to 42.   I am honored to have co-led this bill to require a commonsense solution that will set clear safety standards for rechargeable lithium-ion batteries used in e-mobility devices – ensuring that only safe, tested products reach American consumers..”

FROM SENATOR KIRSTEN GILLIBRAND:  “Just last year, lithium-ion batteries sparked hundreds of fires across New York City, killing and injuring innocent New Yorkers,” said Senator Gillibrand. “I have long fought for this commonsense change, and I applaud the CPSC for making critical progress in our fight to crackdown on unregulated lithium-ion batteries by finalizing federal regulations that will be critical to saving lives and making our city, state, and nation safer.”

FROM CONGRESSWOMAN CLAUDIA TENNEY:  “I voted ‘Yes’ on H.R. 1797, the Setting Consumer Standards for Lithium-Ion Batteries Act These batteries pose an escalating threat to the public’s safety. H.R. 1797 passed the House by a vote of 378-34.”
