Hornell, North Hornell, Canisteo, Likely To “Opt-Out”

October 18, 2021

The Hornell Common Council has not yet voted on whether to opt out of having a marijuana dispensary. Like other local towns, Hornell officials (including City Hall Attorney Joe Pelych) says there is not enough info yet about that marijuana dispensary program, which is now being allowed by New York State government. Hornell’s Common Council will wait until November to vote on this.

Canisteo Village Mayor Monica Recktenwald says, the Canisteo village board will be voting next month to opt out of having a marijuana dispensary.

North Hornell Mayor John Falci says the North Hornell board will likely also vote to opt out of that law, in December. In other North Hornell news, the village board is looking at hiring a company to look into the sewer lines with cameras, to find out if there are any leaks. North Hornell Mayor Falci is also looking at bids, on the village hall expansion project.
