Hornell Police Officer under the Spotlight for December

December 31st, 2018

HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police Sargent Ryan Harrison was recognized by the city Monday morning for his outstanding service over the years.

Harrison, 31, joined the HPD in July 2012 after previously working for Hornell’s DPW. He received his Associates Degree in Criminal Justice from Corning Community College. Harrison was recognized for many aspects of his job, most recently a drug bust that netted $1,900 in cash and over 2 ounces of crystal meth.

“Ryan is receiving this award for many reasons, including his effort in the city’s war on drugs, and also his community policing skills. Whether it be Gus Macker, or any community event in the city Ryan is always right there to help out,” said Mayor John Buckley, “and his services are really appreciated.”

Harrison stated that a major reason he chose being a police officer was to be involved in the community and help people, and to give something back to the community he was raised in.
