HORNELL, NY – Police Chief Ted Murray says Hornell Police, with the assistance of the Hornell Fire Department, found the video recording equipment that was stolen from the American Legion last weekend, during a break-in. The video equipment was located in a river, near the Little League Park in Hornell. Murray hopes that the footage, which is on an sd card, an be salvaged, and watched, and that the footage will show who the burglars were. He says it will take a couple of days to dry the SD card off, and then the SD card will be sent to the state police crime lab in Olean.
Murray also says that the person who is believed to be the suspect is already in custody on an unrelated charge, but that person has not been charged yet for the break-in at the Legion. However, Chief Murray says that if the video is viewable, the suspect may be charged for the American Legion break-in.
