Missing Corning Teen Was Found Quickly

STEUBEN COUNTY, NY – A missing person case over in Corning was solved quickly, thanks to deputies who were able to trace down where the person was, because of they had the missing person’s cell phone.
Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that deputies found a freezing teenager in the woods there in Corning, suffering from frostbite and hypothermia.

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on January 5, 2022, deputies of the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office responded to and investigated a reported missing juvenile in the Town of Corning, New York. At about 1:30am a parent reported their child was missing from the residence. Deputies initiated a search and K-9 Twiggy responded and successfully tracked the missing person from the located missing person’s cell phone to a trail at Spencer Crest Nature Center. Deputies successfully located the missing teen in the woods by a trail. The missing teen was shoeless, coatless and suffering from apparent hypothermia and frostbite. Deputies and EMS personnel treated the found person who was transported to a medical facility for further treatment.
K-9 Twiggy recently celebrated his fourth birthday on January 1st, 2022.
Sheriff Allard thanks the New York State Police for their assistance in this search and rescue.
