More Inmate Against Guards Violence, At Elmira Correctional

September 27, 2022

ELMIRA, NY – More violence against prison guards, has being reported as having happened recently at the Elmira Correctional Facility. A spokesman there says, as two corrections officers were moving an inmate from a classroom, the inmate pulled a guard down on the floor over a chair, and bit a corrections officer. The spokesman says that force was needed to get the inmate to stop biting the corrections officer. Then when more officers joined in to take the inmate to the infirmary, the inmate injured two more corrections officers. A total of four corrections officers were treated at a hospital and three of them have not been able to return to work.

In another recent incident, a corrections officer was punched in the face and has been unable to return to work so far they say. The spokesman for the state prison guards union says, the state legislature needs to get rid of the HALT Act, before a corrections officer gets killed. The HALT Act got rid of a form of solitary confinement used to punish violent prisoners.
