Palmesano: Dems In Albany Cancel Regular Session

March 1, 2021

ALBANY DEMOCRATS FAIL TO ACT; PROVIDING COVER FOR GOVERNOR UNDER MULTIPLE INVESTIGATIONS

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano(R,C,I-Corning) reacts to Democrats canceling regularly scheduled session on Monday, March 1

“Once again, my Democrat colleagues closed the door on holding this governor accountable. After Assembly Democrats limited session last week, we were scheduled to be in regular session today but were notified minutes before starting that the Democrat Majority canceled session for the day. It is frustrating that the Assembly Majority seems to continue to provide cover for a man who covered-up nursing home deaths according to the attorney general and is now being accused of sexual harassment by two former aides.

“Albany Democrats would rather completely halt the functioning of our government instead of holding the chief executive accountable. The governor’s emergency powers need to be stripped IMMEDIATELY, the Legislature needs to use its subpoena power to compel testimony from the Cuomo administration on the nursing home tragedy and a thorough and truly independent investigation of the sexual harassment allegations needs to begin as quickly as possible.

“New Yorkers should expect much more of their governor. Likewise, I expect much more of my colleagues in the Legislature and it is long past time for the Assembly Majority to step up and restore checks and balances to our state government,” said Palmesano.
