Congressman Tom Reed Voting For Bill To Stop Refugees From Coming In

November 19, 2015

WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Tom Reed reporting that he has joined a bipartisan coalition concerned about Syrian refugees relocating to the United States, and that they have cosponsored legislation, called The American Security Against Foreign Enemies Act of 2015. Reed says the bill prevents refugees from Syria and Iraq from seeking refugee status in the United States until the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Director of National Intelligence independently certify that there is no security threat from that individual. No Syrian or Iraqi refugee is able to enter the country without these clearances.

“America has already spent nearly 5 billion dollars in aid for the people of Syria and to address the refugee crisis. We have no doubt, that we are a generous, compassionate nation, but blindly allowing anyone to enter our country with a committed, lethal adversary like ISIS wreaking havoc on cities like Paris, is just absurd.”

The House is expected to vote on the legislation on Thursday.
