State Police Find Lost Three Year Old In Allegany County

BIRDSALL, NY –  On April 21, at about 2:52 PM, State Police in Amity report that the Allegany County 911 Center got a call about a a missing three year old girl in the Town of Birdsall.

Troopers learned that the three year old went out the rear door of the residence with the family dog.  The child’s mother attempted to locate the child with no success, then contacted 911.

Several State Police members along with Forest Rangers and the Allegany County Emergency Management were on scene and established a command post.  State Police Captain Eugene Staniszewski also responded to the scene and began coordinating search efforts. The residence is adjoined to state land which is heavily wooded with a stream bed running through the back yard.

At about 6:20 PM a search team located the little girl, approximately one mile east of her residence sitting by the stream bed.  She appeared to be in good health, however, after evaluation appeared to have sustained minor hypothermia. She was reunited with her parents and transported by Canaseraga Ambulance to Noyes Memorial Hospital for further evaluation.

Also assisting in the search were, State Police K-9, NYS Environmental Conversation Officers, Livingston County Sheriff’s Office, Erie County Sheriff’s Aviation, Birdsall FD, Canaseraga FD, Almond FD, Arkport FD, Short Tract FD, Almond Ambulance, Allegany County Wildland Search and Rescue, Medic 700, and Life Net.
