Mayor Bill Tucker Bids Farewell

March 6, 2017

CANISTEO, NY – Outgoing Mayor Bill Tucker made sure he thanked everyone involved Monday night in his last formal speech. Tucker, who was elected to the post in 2011, had no regrets as his term winds down. “It’s been a great experience,” said Tucker, “And I appreciate everyone’s help in the progress we have made over the years.”

Notable accomplishments since Tucker has been Mayor are the building of Patriot Park, funding for an emergency generator for the well system, replacement of the sewage lift station on Depot Street, rebuilding of the North Hornell Street Bridge with no additional tax payer cost, the safe route to schools project, putting a school resource officer in the school with a separate police substation, the purchase of fire trucks and numerous DPW equipment, and leading the way for the expansion of the Canisteo PD and Fire Dept.

In conclusion, Tucker noted that he hoped that the creation of a fire district would go through as it would be in the best interests of everyone involved.

Bill Tuckers last day in office will be Monday, April 3rd at noon.
