Paul Van Caeseele Is Running For Steuben Co. Legislator

March 13, 2019

HORNELL, NY – Statement From Paul Van Caeseele:

Paul Van Caeseele is announcing his candidacy for Steuben County Legislator. He realizes that this position may be fairly unfamiliar to much of the public, but as it is a position that represents the people, he believes it shouldn’t be. That’s why when he’s elected he’ll be focusing on heightened visibility and communication, a stronger voice from a citizen of full-time residency, and increased collaboration with city officials and projects. He wants the citizens of Hornell to feel comfortable knowing that the person they put in office is passionate about making their tax dollars work for them, in their city, and as efficiently as possible.”

“He is asking the people to please join him in his pursuit to bridge classic foundational policy, with modern day culture, as he begins his campaign to inspire bringing people together.

Hornellsville Adds Grace Period for Dog Census

March 12th, 2019

ARKPORT, NY – Hornellsville made some last minute changes to their upcoming dog census before it goes into effect. The amended resolution now contains a 30 day grace period. If a resident registers their animal within that time frame after reporting or the discovery of animals, no penalty will be issued and the $5 surcharge will not apply.

According to Deputy Town Clerk Elizabeth VanScoter, the Humane Society will be involved, and if an affidavit is not returned they will go to the residence checking for animals. They will also be conducting random home checks to insure the census is accurate.

VanScoter added, “If no response to the mail out is returned, we will be following up with a phone call, and if no response is given to that then officials at the Humane Society will do an actual home check. Other communities have done this with a huge success rate, and we have never done one so we are looking possibly at the same positive results. Hopefully it will generate some income for the town also.”

In other news Highway Super Jason Emo said he had to order another 600 tons of sand and salt because of the constant snow in February. So far this season Hornellsville has went through 2500 tons and had to plow 19 times.

The Town Clerk reported that she sold 25 dog permits, 1 marriage license, and 3 building permits in February totaling $560, and the Town Court brought in $11,379.
