The New York State Department of Transportation today announced that pavement maintenance work on Interstate 86 in both the eastbound and westbound directions, between exits 34 and 35, will begin May 28, 2019. The work will include a sealing treatment at the edges and center line of the roadway.

One lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. Motorists should expect delays. Work is anticipated to last one week, weather permitting.

It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully through the many highway and bridge construction zones they will encounter this season.

Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver license.
