Steuben Co. Board of Elections: Voting Rules for 2016

The Steuben County Board of Elections sent out this clarification, about a previous posting:
 
Anyone in Steuben County not registered to vote, who is 18 or older, and wishing to vote in the state Presidential Primary in April must register to vote by March 25, according to county Board of Elections Commissioners.
 
Only those that are registered as Democrats or Republicans will be able to vote in the Presidential Primary April 19.
 
Voters who have moved within Steuben county since the Nov. 3, 2015 General Election, need to complete a new voter registration form and submit it to the county Board of Elections by March 25, in order to update their residential address or mailing address.
 
The Democratic and Republican presidential primaries are slated for April 19 across New York State; Steuben County’s voting hours are from noon-9 p.m.
 
Steuben Elections Commissioners, said anyone who will be out of the county on April 19, who is permanently disabled or is a care giver of someone who is permanently disabled, can apply for an absentee ballot for the presidential primary. It is too late for anyone to change their party affiliation for the 2016 election year.
 
Anyone wishing to change their party affiliation for the 2017 election year may do so by completing a new voter registration form and select their new party affiliation. Party changes must be received by October 14, 2016 in order for them to take affect for the 2017 election year.
