Some SUNY Classes To Be Offered At Hornell High And Online

June 5, 2019

HORNELL, NY – From Mayor John Buckley:

SUNY Corning Community College, the Hornell City School District, and the City of Hornell have collaborated to bring two accelerated associate’s degrees to Hornell. SUNY CCC will offer a 16-month program in business administration and a 16-month program in human services. Both programs will begin in August. Classes will be offered one night a week at the Hornell High School. All other coursework will be offered online. Credit for prior learning may be available. Financial aid may also be available. For more information, students may call 607-962-9151. Those ready to apply may complete an online application at www.corning-cc.edu .
“We understand that people are busy and have many obligations,” said Dr. Katherine P. Douglas, President of SUNY Corning Community College. “We also understand the inherent value of an associate’s degree, including the professional doors it can open.”
The programs were chosen to meet identified workforce needs in the greater Hornell area. Community leaders are looking for people with the skills and knowledge that the coursework ensures.
“Our regional employers have been clear,” said Hornell Mayor John Buckley. “They need more skilled employees to meet increasing demands. Our residents have been equally clear: they need flexibly scheduled programs that will integrate with their already time-stressed lifestyles. I am pleased that we have identified a solution that works for our employers and tomorrow’s employees.”
“We are thrilled to play host to SUNY Corning Community College as they launch their programming in the Hornell area,” said Jeremy Palotti, Superintendent of the Hornell City School District. “During the last two years we have sought out partners in higher education to work collaboratively with the school to provide opportunities for our students and the community at large. We are hopeful that this small start will lead to more programming by SUNY CCC in our community.”
This program is a result of a year-long partnership between Mayor John Buckley, SUNY CCC leaders, and the Hornell City School District.
