Stanley A. Parsels, of Cameron

CAMERON: Stanley A. Parsels, 75, of County Route 119 passed away Monday Oct. 22 at his home as a result of injuries sustained from a tractor accident at his residence.

Stanley was born July 13, 1943 in Louisville, KY to Stanley A. and Geraldine (Pearl) Parsels. On August 2, 1980, 38 years ago in Cameron, he married the former Ella Bacon who survives and resides in Cameron.

Stanley had been the Highway Superintendent for the town of Cameron for many years prior to his retirement. He had also worked in Florida and Niagara Falls as a police officer before moving to Cameron and had also worked for the Steuben County Highway Dept.

Stanley enjoyed fishing, working on home projects and spending time with his grandsons Austin and Stevie. Those who knew Stanley, also knew how much he enjoyed mowing his lawn and how particular it had to be done. His lawn was always in “tip-top shape”

Stanley was a veteran of the U.S Navy proudly serving our country from 1960-64 and was a member of the Canisteo American Legion.

In addition to his wife Ella, Stanley is survived by daughters: Brandi Parsels (Steve Weston) of Rochester, Cynthia Parsels, Sandra Kinghorn (Tom Cooper) and Melissa (Johnny) Williams all of FL. Step-daughters: Sheila Marlatt (Kevin O’Brien) of Canisteo and Diane (Shawn) Stratton of Denver, CO.

Stanley is also survived by his mother, Geraldine “Gerry” Parsels of Cameron, his three brothers, George Parsels (Elaine Graves) of Cameron, Roger Parsels of FL. and Jerry (Connie) Parsels of Cameron, one sister, Bonnie (Chester) Crews of FL. grandchildren, Terry Florio, Shane Cooper, Austin Smith, Stevie Weston, Sydney and Jayden Williams, Brett Marlatt (Reilly Pogue), Julie Marlatt (Milton Quandt), Kierstin Stratton (Chris Harmuth), Aaron Stratton, Shaunna Stratton (Eric Vargas) and Isaac Stratton. Great grandchildren, Jakob and Johnathon Vargas and Cage Harmuth and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to recognize his close friends, Milton Goodwin, Duane Butler and Dave Nobel. Last but not least, Stanley was very fond of his dogs, Bruiser, Tinker and Rocky. He was predeceased by his father Stanley A. Parsels and a nephew Roger Parsels, Jr.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Thursday at the H.P. Smith & Son, Inc. Funeral Home, 29 East Main St. in Canisteo. Private services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
