ONONDAGA, NYC – At approximately 9:07am, State Police in LaFayette responded to the Iroquois Nursing Home, located at 4600 Southwood Heights Drive in the Town of Onondaga to assist FIRE/EMS with a person pinned in the elevator shaft.
The investigation revealed Christopher J. Hamelinck, age 53, who is an employee of Otis Elevator Company, was at the nursing home facility this morning performing service work on malfunctioning elevator #2. During the maintenance, and for unknown reason, elevator #1 from an upper floor descends pinning the decedent between an affixed steel ladder and a support beam. The scene is consistent of an accidental death, with no signs of foul play.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration also responded to the scene. The investigation is continuing.
