ALBANY, NY – The Albany Times Union reports that a NYS Education Dept’s advisory board wants team names like Raiders and Warriors have to be dropped by schools, and that the state board of Regents will vote on this, on April 17.
Several high schools which use the name “Raiders” are mentioned in the TU story, Hornell was not one of them. It is unclear if Hornell High will be affected by this upcoming April 17 vote. WLEA has reached out to school superintendent Jeremy Palotti, to see what his response is to this story from the Albany Times Union.
