“It’s a pleasure to be back in Hornell, it’s a pleasure to be with Mr. Wallut,” said Governor Cuomo.  “Mayor Shawn Hogan is to me, the best example of public service.  He’s a person who is in public service for all the right reasons, he gets the job done, he gets it done for all the right reasons, none of this happens without Mayor Shawn Hogan.  He’s dedicated such a part of his life to the community, God bless him.”   The governor also praised Senator Tom O’Mara.  “Senator Tom O’Mara, who is a great fighter for the southern tier, he’s always there, he’s always for you all, he does a great job.”   The governor also had high words of praise for the Alstom employees.  “We also owe congratulations to the men and women of Alstom, for winning this contract, and seeing this plant grow and seeing this plant expand and bringing opportunity to the entire region.  This is in many ways the story of the challenge of upstate New York, the story of America.”

“The governor’s visionary Regional Economic Development Council is a game changer here in the southern tier,” Hogan said of Governor Cuomo’  “Jobs are up, unemployment is down, and all barrels are pointed in the right direction.  But our governor, Andrew Cuomo did not stop there,”, Hogan told the crowd.  “Last year, our region was awarded $500 million dollars, and you will see the impact that money has, in the weeks and months and years to come.”  Hogan described that grant money as a way of helping future generations for years to come.

“You should never forget that just a few years ago, there were only a few people in this room,” said Jerome Wallut, Sr. Vice President of Alstom Transport, North America.  “It is encouraging.  You are the ones, who welcomed us to the U.S.,” Wallut told the workers present.

“Alstom won this contract, with the help from the state, with the help from the federal government, but Alstom wouldn’t have been in the position, to be in the bidding for this contract, without the great workforce here at Alstom, so thank you all,” said State Senator Tom O’Mara.  It’s about the strong workforce that we have, and we need to continue to build on that.”  O’Mara also praised Hornell IDA Director Jim Griffin, and said that no one has signed more contracts in the Hornell area, than Jim Griffin.
