23 Year Old Hornell Resident, Facing Charges After Near Fatal Overdose

HORNELL, NY – Hornell Police Chief Ted Murray reports that Dana Masterson, 23, Maple City Drive, Hornell, is facing charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance, 3rd degree, Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, 3rd degree, and Assault in the 2nd degree. Masterson is alleged to have sold heroin laced with Fentanyl last week, to a person who almost died.

Police Chief Murray noted that Hornell Police Officer J.R. Emo, saved the near fatal overdose victim, using Narcan and administering CPR.
Murray says that the investigation was handled by Sgt. Police Investigator Tom Aini, assisted by Officer Emo and Officers Seth Blanchard and Pete McDaniels.

“We are as of late, seeing an uptick in drugs laced with Fentanyl,” Murray said, “which can result in deadly consequences. I again urge anyone who is caught in the vicious cycle of narcotic addiction, to seek help. Our local addiction medical facility has assured us that anyone coming to our department, seeking immediate help, will be placed into a program of recovery.”
