Officials Trying To Find Out Who Died In West Sparta Car Fire

WEST SPARTA, NY – Livingston County Sheriff Tom Dougherty is reporting a fatal car fire.  It happened in the Town of West Sparta.  Dougherty says that the Mount Morris Fire Department and Deputy Sheriffs were dispatched to the scene. After the fire was extinguished, it was discovered that there was a deceased person in the vehicle.  The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing by the Livingston County Fire Coordinator’s Office with the Livingston County Sheriff’s Office Forensic Identification Unit (FIU) assisting. Members of the Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division (CID) along with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s Office are working to positively identify the victim and determine a cause of death.
