HORNELL, NY – At Thursday mornings Board of Public Safety meeting Mayor John Buckley and Fire Chief Frank Brzozowski announced the hiring of the first ever female firefighter in the city. Jackie Lewis will be filling that position as soon as she completes all necessary training requirements.
According to Buckley, Lewis has an extensive background in the volunteer world both on the firefighting side and the ambulance side. “We think she is going to do a great job for us and be a tremendous asset to the HFD for years to come. I think this is a historic and very proud moment for the commissioners and I, and also our city.”
