Here is an update about the state senate and congressional district maps case, Steuben County Surrogate Court Judge Pat McAllister spent much the week, hearing expert testimony from both sides. On Wednesday afternoon, Judge McAllister ordered that the closing oral arguments be given on Thursday March 31st at 10am.
At issue: are the state senate and congressional maps drawn up, constitutional, under the state constitution? If the maps are not constitutional, when will those maps get repaired and who will fix those maps? Will it be the state legislature, or a new map designer or a new commission? Those are just some of the questions that revolve around this court case.
In the end, it will be the New York State Court of Appeals, which will have the last say in this case.
