Canisto Village Hall has passed their budget, there is a 15.79 percent tax rate decrease. The 2022-2023 year budget asked village residents to pay $9.46 per thousand dollars per assessed value, and the 2023-2024 budget is $7.97 per thousand dollars of assessed value. The budget goes into effect June 1 of this year. The budget was passed unanimously last night.
In other Canisteo news, Village Hall Attorney Peter Degnan is taking over for Tim Rosell as village hall attorney for Canisteo. Rosell is taking on new attorney work In Hornellsville and Hornell
Jack Beers was sworn in as a trustee again last night. James Dineen was sworn in as a trustee as well. Dineen is taking iver for Paul Cone who did not seek reelection.
Also, Canisteo village and town officials are In talks for setting up anew water district with Hornellsville.
