Hornell Mayor John Buckley says that the Hornell Board of Public Works recently authorized important upgrades at Veterans Memorial Park at James Street. This project includes reconstruction of the tennis courts, addition of pickleball courts, basketball court replacement, the addition of a splash pad to replace the baby pool, and upgrades to the pool house.
The mayor notes that construction crews are expected to be onsite this week as work gets underway on these exciting new improvements and additions. While the park will remain open for residents and visitors during construction, access to select areas may be restricted at times as needed. Crews will work diligently on these various projects to ensure their completion in a timely manner and will strive to minimize disruption to park visitors while work is being completed. He also says that the DPW will be installing new playground equipment as well.
“Our parks serve as vital recreation spaces for our residents. This project is made possible by a grant from NYS Parks and Recreation as well as local investment. I’m excited for these improvements to get underway and look forward to their completion,” said Mayor John Buckley.
