CANISTEO, NY – There was a mock DWI fatal accident event this week in Canisteo. It was put on by the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, the Steuben County District Attorneys Office, Canisteo Village Police, and other law enforcement agencies. The roles of the “drunk” driver and the “driver’s” accident “victim”, were played by drama students from Alfred University.
Sheriff Jim Allard noted that the event, both appeared realistic and was persuasive. “The high school students were very quiet, when they saw the scene of the ‘accident’,” Allard tells Wlea News. “That’s not something you see very often in high school students.”
