CANISTEO, NY – The Canisteo Village Board met last night and passed a new local law. The legislation, Local Law 3 of 2024, gives a partial exemption on taxation of real property to volunteer firefighters and ambulance crew members in the Village of Canisteo.
The new law will take effect on the firefighters/ambulance workers who live inside the Canisteo Village Limits, on their 2026 tax bill. Officials say it’s a 10 percent exemption for active members of the Canisteo Fire Company, and 15 to 20 members will benefit from this new local law.
